# Monetize Your App

> The ways to earn from an app on Elata, what each one needs, and how revenue reaches you.

<Info>
  **Status.** In-app purchases are live on a test network (Ethereum Sepolia).
  App subscriptions and membership are experimental. See
  [What's live](/overview/status).
</Info>

## Your options

| Option | Best for | Code needed | Status |
| - | - | - | - |
| [In-app purchases](/apps/platform/in-app-purchases) | One-time unlocks: level packs, features, cosmetics | Yes, a few lines with `app-payments` | Live on testnet |
| [Subscriptions](/apps/platform/subscriptions) | Ongoing access to the whole app, with an optional free trial | No: Elata gates the app for you | Experimental |

You can combine them: for example, a subscription for the app plus one-time
items inside it.

***

## How revenue reaches you

* Users pay through Elata's checkout in USDC. Your app never handles payment details.
* Elata records ownership only after payment is verified, so your app can trust what Elata tells it.
* Revenue is paid to the app owner's wallet after Elata's platform fee.

***

## Elata membership

Elata members can open **every** subscription-gated app without subscribing to
each one. If your app has a subscription plan, members count as subscribers.
See [Subscriptions](/apps/platform/subscriptions#who-gets-access).

***

## Costs

| Cost | When |
| - | - |
| Registration fee | Once per app, in USDC, shown in the [Build an App wizard](https://app.elata.bio/build-app) |
| Platform fee | Deducted from sales and subscription revenue |

***

## Points

You also earn [Elata Points](/overview/points) for publishing an app and when
it reaches 100 and 1,000 plays. Points aren't money and can't be sold.

## The bigger picture

[Monetization](/overview/monetization) explains how money moves across Elata
for users, builders, and Elata.
