# ELTA Token

> The facts about ELTA: what it is, where it's deployed, and how to verify the official contract.

## What ELTA is

ELTA is the ERC-20 token for the Elata ecosystem. It has a fixed supply of
77,000,000 tokens, minted once when the contract was deployed.

  **No official liquidity pool exists yet.** Any pool or listing that appears
  before an official announcement from Elata is unauthorized. Always check that
  a contract address matches the one below exactly before interacting with it.

## ELTA and the Elata apps

You don't need ELTA to use Elata. Browsing and playing apps, earning
[Elata Points](/overview/points), and publishing apps don't require holding or
spending ELTA. Elata Points are separate from ELTA: they're off-chain and
can't be bought, sold, or transferred.

Elata's wider on-chain protocol, including staking and governance, is not part
of the live product. See [What's live](/overview/status).
