Overview

elata.json is a small manifest you include in your upload. Today Elata uses it to read your release version, so your listing shows v1.2.3 instead of Release #4.
elata.json
elata.json is optional today. If it is missing or invalid, Elata falls back to other version sources (see below). It will become required in a future update, so add it now.

Fields

File name and location

  • Name the file elata.json (elata.manifest.json also works).
  • Put it at the root of your zip, next to index.html.
  • If there are several, the one closest to the root wins.
With Vite, put it in public/ so it’s copied into dist/ on every build:

Version fallbacks

If there’s no valid elata.json, Elata looks for a version in this order:
  1. elata.json (or elata.manifest.json)
  2. The version in the shallowest package.json in the zip
  3. A meta tag in index.html:
The upload response tells you which source was used.
