Mission

Elata’s goal is to make biosignal technology open and accessible: a marketplace for privacy-respecting biometric apps that bring personal insight to anyone, using devices they already have. Three principles run through everything Elata builds:
  • Open. The Elata SDK and many earlier projects are open source.
  • Private by design. Signals are processed on the user’s device, and sharing anything beyond an app is opt-in.
  • Accessible. Many apps need nothing more than a webcam, and consumer headbands cost a fraction of clinical equipment.
In an October 2025 interview, co-founder Andreas Melhede described the aim as democratizing brain-computer interface technology, “by the people, for the people.”

How Elata got here

The milestones below are history. For what’s available today, see What’s live. Elata has also released other open-source tools along the way, including AgentForge (agent-based simulation for EVM smart contracts) and the NewsReader that powers news.elata.bio. They’re described in the Archive.
